Take a Break

I did not write a blog post last week! My goal was and is to write a post every week but last week, my finger tips did not make it to the keys that unlock my thoughts and put them on the interwebs.

Yesterday, on a whim, I decided to take a drive into Shenandoah National Park. I took the whole day to hike trails, drive and observe the beauty that surrounded me. I found myself feeling immensely grateful for a) being able to take the day to do something that enriched my soul, b) driving and driving and driving until I was done, c) being surrounded by such beauty, d) seeing two hawks and a black bear, e) checking out from my routine to do whatever I wanted to, and so much more.

Being able to check out and do whatever I want to, even if it means not writing a blog post when I have created the goal for myself is okay. Did I fail last week? Did I mess up? Should I feel bad about not following through on the commitment to myself? NO, NOT AT ALL!

While goals are important and striving to achieve them is critical to self-growth, listening to our bodies and our hearts is just as important. It’s about balancing all of the complexities of life and most importantly it’s about listening to and following one’s intuition. As we move into a more feminine way of being, I have a feeling we are all going to be more flexible in general, and especially with ourselves. Take a break and listen to your heart!
